Liquid and sand and cement screed
Liquid screed (also known as flow screed) is a self-levelling material that delivers a smooth finish and excellent thermal conductivity, making it the ideal choice for underfloor heating systems and fast-track installations. It offers quick drying times, minimal shrinkage, and exceptional surface accuracy. Meanwhile, our fibre-reinforced sand and cement screed combines traditional strength with added durability — the integrated fibres help reduce cracking, increase flexibility, and improve load-bearing capacity. This makes it a great option for both domestic and commercial floors where a hard-wearing, long-lasting surface is required.
Unbonded screed
An unbonded screed is laid over a membrane or slip layer, rather than being bonded directly to the concrete base. This method helps to reduce the risk of cracking caused by movement or moisture in the subfloor, making it an excellent option for commercial buildings, garages, warehouses, and ground floor installations. Thicknesses can vary from 50-75mm.
Bonded screed
This type of screed is directly bonded to the concrete substrate using a bonding agent and/or primer, creating a solid and reliable connection between the screed and the base. It’s usually laid at a thinner depth around 20-40mm and used where heavy loading will be a common occurrence.
Underfloor heating (UFH) and screed
Both liquid screed and sand and cement screed are excellent choices for use with underfloor heating systems. Liquid screed is particularly popular thanks to its self-levelling properties, which allow it to flow easily around heating pipes for even heat distribution and maximum efficiency. Traditional sand and cement screed also performs well with underfloor heating when properly installed, offering a strong, durable base that retains and radiates heat effectively.
Fast drying and early strength screed
By adjusting the mix design and using specialist additives, we can achieve higher compressive strength ratings (up to CT-C35-F5) while significantly accelerating the drying process — allowing for foot traffic after a day and underfloor heating commissioning within just a few days.
Our fast-drying, high-performance screeds allow finished floor coverings to be installed much sooner, helping to keep your project on schedule, usually after 5-7 days. With liquid screed usually taking around 2-4 weeks and sand and cement screed taking 6-8 weeks once moisture levels are below 0.5%.
